Panama to Colombia: 3-day island hopping tour
Get to know all 365 islands of the San Blas islands in Panama on this 3-day boat trip from Panama to Colombia: Relax on picture-perfect tropical beaches, explore authentic indigenous villages and sleep on deserted islands
Our most popular trip brings you in three adventure filled days from the bustling metropole Panama City to the stunning beauty of the San Blas islands and further on across the Darien gap to the laid-back and barely visited village of Sapzurro in Colombia. We travel 1-4 hours per day in our fast boat, explore different islands and Kuna villages along the way and sleep in traditional Kuna cabins on the islands. Don’t expect any luxury though – it will be rustic and rough, but with a small group of like-minded people on board, knowledgable local guides at your service and a sense for Adventure, this is a trip you will never forget.
This trip includes all transportation from Panama to Colombia (Panama City to Sapzurro), entrance fees, delicious meals, accommodations as well as visits to the San Blas islands and to Kuna villages. All you need to do is to hop on!

Hourly Schedule
- Day 1 - 5:30
- Panama City - San Blas
- Get picked up at your hotel in Panama City, stop at a supermarket (if needed) and after a breath-taking ride through the jungle-covered mountains (with a bit of luck you can spot toucans or other wild animals) arrive on the Carribbean side in Carti, San Blas.
- Day 1 - 9:30
- Welcome to San Blas
- Our boat already awaits you in Carti. After a short boat ride (approx. 30min) with our certified captains along the coast, passing first islands and Kuna villages, arrive on our first island, where you will spend the rest of the day & the night
- Day 1 - 10:00
- Island time, paradise time
- Spend the entire day on the island, engaging in amazing activities such as swimming or snorkeling the crystal-clear waters (ask us for snorkeling equipment), wandering around the island, relaxing on the beach, lazing in a hammock, enjoying local meals... Sleep right on the beach in traditional Kuna bamboo cabins
- Day 2 - Morning to Midday
- Off we go
- Hop on the boat and leave the more visited part of the San Blas islands behind while we bound east to explore other islands. Have lunch in a traditional Kuna village. During the ride, make sure to have your camera ready. Maybe we can spot some turtles or dolphins accompanying us
- Day 2 - Afternoon & Night
- It's a Robinson Crusoe kinda' life
- Arrive on another second palm-tree covered island, your home for the night - this is the closest you will ever get to feel like Robinson Crusoe. Have delicious dinner, enjoy the tranquility and the amazing star-covered sky (not spoilt by any lights) and fall asleep in your traditional Kuna cabin with the sound of the waves and the wind in the palm trees
- Day 3 - Morning to Midday
- Colombia bound
- Set off in the boat to head towards Colombia. The closer we get, the less islands there are. Instead, every once in a while spot small Kuna villages nested into the jungle-covered hills on the mainland. Before leaving the last islands behind, make a last stop to enjoy the beautiful beaches and have another yummy lunch
- Day 3 - Afternoon
- Bye Panama, hello Colombia
- Arrive in Puerto Obaldia, the last Panamanian village before the border where you will get your passport stamped out of Panama. After a short baggage check, get back into the boat for the last part of our travels to Sapzurro in Colombia where you'll arrive in the afternoon. Bienvenido a Colombia!
